In only five years, more than 1,200 Rhode Islanders have lost their lives to overdose.
Join us for Owning Our Story: About the Opioid Overdose Epidemic.
Come be a part of a powerful evening of sharing and learning, featuring guest speakers and a unique adaptation of the production Four Legs to Stand On. This is our story of loss, pain and suffering. Help us rewrite the ending.
Guest speakers include:
Dr. Josiah Rich, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, attending physician at The Miriam Hospital, and Expert Advisor to the Governor Raimondo's Overdose Prevention and Intervention Task Force; "Opioid Use Disorder: Understanding the Stigma and the Disease"
Paul Kandarian, Army Combat Veteran who served in Afghanistan and former member of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division; "War and Addiction: The Battle on Two Fronts"
Alyssa Sullivan, Yoga teacher, author, and speaker; "Transcending the Story: The Healing Path of Connection"
Doors open at 6 p.m. with a pre-show and interactive art installations. Rhode Island-based treatment/recovery resources will be in attendance, including:
