2015 Songwriters Festival of Rhode Island presented by The Rhode Island Hospitality Association at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
The first ever Rhode Island Songwriter Festival will bring in nationally acclaimed singer-songwriters straight out of Nashville, Tennessee to Providence, Rhode Island. With several back to back performances to watch, attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience the passion & dedication that is part of songwriting, by listening to the voices, back stories and personalities of the artists.
Along with the songwriter’s performances, there will be several local chefs/restaurants offering food stations for attendees to graze in between show times. JARED MULLINS: Guitarist, Vocalist, and Songwriter for Heavy Flow.
FRANK MYERS: Guitarist and Songwriters known for "Once Upon a Lifetime" - Alabama; "I Swear" -John Michael Mongomery; "I'm Already There" - Lonestar; "I Don't Wanna You Anymore" - Kenny Loggins. Recipient of various awards for "I Swear", including CMA, Grammy and Billboard.
GEORGE TEREN: Songwriter, Producer and Singer known for "Real Good Man" - Tim McGraw; "Busy Man" - Billy Ray Cyrus; "Homewrecker" - Gretchen Wilson; "When I Get Where I'm Going" - Brad Paisley & Dolly Parton. Also has had hit singles with Trace Adkins, Chuck Wicks, Blake Shelton, Oak Ridge Boys and more.
PHILLIP WHITE: Songwriter known for co-writing "I'm a Survivor" theme song TV sitcom Reba; "I'm Movin' On" - Rascal Flatts; "The Trouble with Girls" - Scotty McCreery; "Lost in You" - Darius Rucker
Special Guest Performances by RHODE ISLAND COUNTRY MUSIC ICON AWARD RECIPIENTS:
BILLY GILMAN: Gilman burst onto the national stage in 2000 releasing the hit single "One Voice." Debut album was certified double platinum in the United States, and he was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the youngest singer to ever reach #1 on the Billboard Top Country Album charts. Garnered awards and nods from the ACM, CMA, Billboard , Grammy’s, and AMA.
SARAH POTENZA: Singer, songwriter originally of the band Sarah & The Tall Boys, recently made it to the Top 20 on NBC show "The Voice". New album, "My Turn", to be released in the Fall of 2015 and is currently on tour.
